POSTAGE DELAYS FOR ALL ORDERS TO CHINA - 21st Feb 2020

POSTAGE DELAYS FOR ALL ORDERS TO CHINA Kia Ora to our customers in China,

We just wanted to give an update on the current postage situation. As of the 17th of February, New Zealand Post has temporarily ceased ALL outgoing deliveries to Chinese addresses.
For mail sent before the 17th of February, please expect severe delays. This is due to the extensive logistical and operational challenges faced internationally around the Covid-19 health crisis.

We send our warmest thoughts to you all and hope this crisis passes soon.

First edition Friday: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - 8th Feb 2020

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

To Kill a Mockingbird is widely regarded as one of the most important pieces of literature to come out of the American South, hence why it is a mandatory text in most high schools. The book is based on true events, true people and true experiences that author Harper Lee witnessed as a child. It won the Pulitizer Prize for Literature in 1961, was in the bestsellers list for 88 weeks straight and continues to sell around 1 million copies each year, even 60 years later.

First Edition Friday: The Bone People by Keri Hulme - 3rd Feb 2020

"Oh all the world is a little queer, except thee and me, and sometimes, I wonder about thee. "

This is the number one book I recommend to people when they come into the store. It is eloquent, it is captivating and it is dreamlike.
The Bone People was rejected by many big publishing houses when it was written - it ended up getting picked up by Spiral, a small feminist collective in Christchurch.
It won the Booker Prize in 1984, the Pegasus Prize for Literature in 1985 and continues to be revered as a work of literary art all throughout New Zealand.
We have FOUR first edition first issue copies of The Bone People. They range in condition and therefore price, but you can pick up a copy for between $120 and $325NZD.
More information is available by searching our catalogue.
