SOLD! First Edition Friday Presents: Love in the Time off Cholera - 20th Mar 2020

SOLD! First Edition Friday Presents: Love in the Time off Cholera First Edition Friday Presents: Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

“He allowed himself to be swayed by his conviction that human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but that life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves.”

This is one of those books that simply have to be read… and now seems like as good a time as any!
Set in the Caribbean at the turn of the 20th Century, it tells the story of two people desperately and completely in love. It speaks of their passion, their turmoil and the way that love often manifests itself as an emotion and physical disease…

This first edition is only $55.00 and is available online or in store.

First Edition Friday: A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick - 5th Mar 2020

First Edition Friday Presents: A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick.

“In this dark world where he now dwelt, ugly things and surprising things and once in a long while a tiny wondrous thing spilled out at him constantly; he could count on nothing.”

This is probably Dick's most well known works, and for good reason. It is a semi-autobiographical science fiction deep dive into drug abuse, paranoia and conspiracy. It is a very interesting look into the 1970’s drug subculture in America, at the same time being based in a futuristic sci-fi setting.
The movie is also very good - but as usual, the book was better!

This first edition copy will set you back NZ$250 and is available on our online catalouge.

We just wanted to give an update on the current postage situation. As of the 17th of February, New Zealand Post has temporarily ceased ALL outgoing deliveries to Chinese addresses.
